The Offensive Line

Just watched an interview with the new OL coach Warhop. I’m really liking this dude, he got really technical with his talent evaluations. He also talked a lot about how top end players with G/T flexibility are rare, and that it’s not smart to try and make lineman play out of position just for convenience. I think it’s safe to say the Titus Howard RG experiment isn’t going to get a sequel this year. With Britt resigned today, and Ekwonu visiting, I’m starting to think this unit is going to surprise a lot of people. Pre Draft, these are the most likely starters on the roster:

Tunsil/Howard – great bookend tackles

Britt/Sharping – Average to above average interior guys

A.J. Cann – Fringe starter or rotation vet

Cann is the clear weak link so I get why a lot of people are mocking Linderbaum at 13 to bolster the interior, but I’m kinda warming up to Ekwonu at 3. He’s a guy that can start at guard and comfortably move to tackle if Tunsil goes down again. That really makes up for the fact that we don’t have that swing 6th OL that can fill in any roll. It would also improve the Cann signing since it would give him the flexibility to be the permanent 6th Lineman no matter who get’s hurt. I love Hamilton at 3 but I’ve been seeing a lot of 1. Hutchinson 2. Hamilton lately and I wouldn’t be mad with Ekwonu, I think he’s a better fit than Neal.

Either way, I hope we get some first round lineman cause it feels like we’re one starter away from having a decent position group across the board WITH solid backups and that’s honestly refreshing given the roster we had last year.

TL;DR people are sleeping on our OLine.
