History of the montrose long gone.

One of my sons came over a felonious monk and I were having breakfast as I was sharing how much of it changed.

My kid’s eyes widened a bit as I seemed to casually recall some of the more salacious parts of history, but struggled at some others.

I’m posting this to see if any older folk like me can add anything I might have forgotten about.

Tribal hut: Located, we’re the shake shack, which was previously a burger king.

Charlie’s: where the underbelly building is/ was, which is where Bacchus (lesbian) bar complex was.

Mary’s: where blacksmith (and many ashes interred) is.

Boot’s: S&M shop (and where I purchased my infamous Saint Andrew’s cross) where assassin’s tattoo shop resides.

Adult video store: kamalan bakery. Those floors will never be clean.

One’s a meal: where live nation is currently housed.

Adult video store: where an officer was killed. Now is the location of the pit room.

A string of older homes that used to be brothels, are mostly strip centers.

The mining company: now an Italian restaurant. Those floors won’t be cleaned enough either.

Tower theater… was a dance club, now a restaurant.

I can’t seem to remember the names of the restaurant on Grant near mining company, or the one on Taft at westheimer…

not surprising considering my state at those times.

Need a little advice for excon relative.

Context and explanation:

As some of you know, I took in (won custody/adopted/whatever) a relative that was released after a 35 year stretch.

Initially, he refused help and stayed on the streets for a couple of years, during which he got a traumatic brain injury. Started showing signs of Parkinson (now diagnosed), and cancer (in remission).

In-laws finally got him to stay with him, but, let’s just say it was a stressful situation overall due to their military and law enforcement backgrounds.

We convinced him to stay with us, and aside from walks and playing with dogs, he’s quite isolated socially.

He refuses to join us, and cooks (disconnected oven for safety) for himself in his kitchen.

He’s always been a loner even before prison, but he’s having issues adjusting to life and need to know how to bring him out a tad without it turning into an argument.

I know there are a couple of groups that might help, but simply refuses.

Any suggestions?

Looking for a few open minded redditors for a meet-up.

I recently got takes into organizing a meet-up for a few other regular redditors I see occasionally and threw around the idea for a massive party, if you get my meaning.

I’m going to post this in a more appropriate sub, but figure I’d test out the waters here.

Still trying to figure out the anonymity aspect, but that might be out the window afterwards.

Edit: holy smokes you guys. RIP my inbox.

Suggestions for local charity memorial donations.

Let’s start of to head off some debates:

Yes, I know this isn’t the primarily the right sub for this, and I’m posting for several reasons.

  • You guys will, for the most part, look beyond my moniker.

  • my other account would be wildly inappropriate to use and don’t feel like making another.

  • I’m interested in local charities.

  • There’s great local work here that I may be overlooking that may need a benefactor.

That being said, we are looking to update our wills, and before my inbox gets flooded, no I’m perfectly healthy. We update every few years.

I’ve already established several things for local scholarships and other donations. One day you might sit on a bench with our names, which I find hysterical.

Anyway…

My interest in animals, arts, and domestic abuse survivors.

I’m going to answer this thread, if the mods don’t delete it, for a few hours to get enough of a feedback. Hopefully, this won’t turn into a complete s**t show.

As usual, AMA…
