Community discussion – proposed rules

We have so many repetitive and vague posts being submitted that get very few comments, and popular threads with lots of good conversation being removed just as they’re getting good. Mods aren’t active or very responsive and there’s no telling why submissions are being removed.

Can we propose some new rules in the comments and then up/down vote them to have them implemented?

BARC – need photographers and other volunteers this weekend

Putting out another request for photographers this Saturday morning around 9am at BARC. They’ve been hit with some bad luck lately and there are over 60 dogs that need to be photographed and bios written to send to shelters, rescues, and transport groups to help get them out.

We’ll have a full crew to run dogs in and out of the kennels so if you’ve attended orientation, hope to see you there!

Edit: if you have not attended orientation, they are held Sunday mornings at 9:30am. You can sign up on this page. You should to complete the following prior to orientation and if you want access to ALL volunteer opportunities: * Read through the entire BARC Volunteer Handbook and complete the quiz, * Dog body language eLearning * Cat body language eLearning

Food and drink (and other stuff) delivery apps

Who do you use regularly?

Which treats their employees the best?

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve requested to have delivered?

My partner and I made a pact early in our relationship to never download food delivery apps because if we did – we would probably never leave the house. Also, I hear conflicting stories about how some companies run their businesses and take tips from drivers. But part of me wants to help support the workers who are out hustling every day to make money.

I feel like if I started using food delivery apps, there would be nothing to stop me from ordering a 6-pack of beer and some Jack in the Box tacos at midnight during the weekends and that scares me.

Renters – Looking for feedback

My original post was removed because it had “move” in the title…

I’ve spent the last few weeks searching for rentals (general Upper Kirby/Montrose area) and the availability seems super low – especially for non-traditional, smaller apartment complexes or multi-family properties. If I do message an agent about touring, half the time the unit is rented before I can even see it. Also, the rates are really high for places that don’t have central a/c or in-unit laundry.

Is this the “busy season” for rentals or what? How long have you been in your current place, and how often have you moved in the past? What has your experience been like when moving? What are you must-haves for a place?

I’ve been in my current apartment for 18 months – extended the lease due to not wanting to move during Covid. I was in my previous apartment for 3 years – and the one before that for almost 10.
