Bakeries for bread https://houstonnewmedia.org/bakeries-for-bread/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=bakeries-for-bread Sat, 04 Jun 2022 20:51:33 +0000 http://houstonnewmedia.org/?guid=91a5d2b78ecba36af483322a81e35688

I've been in the Houston area for a while now, but I'm a bit ashamed to say that I've got no good picture of where I can buy high quality bread. Where are yalls favorite bakeries for breads (rather than pastries)?

House buying and historic flooding https://houstonnewmedia.org/house-buying-and-historic-flooding/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=house-buying-and-historic-flooding Mon, 08 Feb 2021 17:17:25 +0000 http://houstonnewmedia.org/?guid=37964b63019dfacb97edd638bbec2ba0

My wife and I are considering buying in the Houston area. We don't have kids right now but are intending to. Constraints: 1) We are looking exclusively in great elementary school districts, 2) We are not looking at Katy, Sugarland, or Woodlands. Kolter (Meyerland) has the most HAR hits for the target price/size, but that's been flooded three (?) times in the past decade. What are the implications of living in the 100/500 year zones? I saw a similar reddit thread from four years ago (pre-Harvey), so I'm not sure what has changed. Has the flood control been improved at all?
