Small Business Owners, How are you now handling mask policy?
As a salon owner, all my staff are still required to wear masks. The sign on the door says if you are vaccinated you aren’t required to wear a mask, but we strongly encourage it because of ‘the rise in cases’.
I had one client today become rather disappointed (she has only been coming for a few months now and is actually a pain in my rear) because there was one client in the salon with out a mask on, while we aren’t enforcing everyone to wear their masks if they are vaccinated, she was- but I didn’t ask for her to show proof on her card.
She was like “this is disappointing, what are your masks policy because if you aren’t enforcing the masks then that affects me.” I told her I wasn’t forcing anyone to wear a mask if they are vaccinated. (What I wanted to say was you can return whether or not you feel comfortable, that is up to you). I absolutely do not care if she returns or not, but I will not have her tarnish my salon because one person did not wear a mask while she was in here and she wasn’t even sitting near her btw.
Like does she go out to eat at restaurants, cause you don’t wear a mask while you’re eating… so many other examples I could go on about…
As a business owner are you still enforcing a strict mask policy, no mask no service? I would lose so much business if I had a strict mask policy and I know there are risks with that, but we really are just trying to make it. I can tell you 90% of salons are not requireing masks right now to be serviced so good luck…
TLDR: Unmasked client, upset masked client – refuses to come if we do not enforce mask policy, I could care less if she returns!
