Moving to Houston in a couple weeks and would appreciate any and all advice regarding shopping for an electric company as the whole Texas power grid situation is all pretty new to me. I’ve heard of a few websites like powertochoose and others who have recommended 3rd party go-betweens like Energy Ogre, but somehow I’ve ended up getting a lot more confused in the process lol.

I’m also not sure if I should be getting a fixed rate or variable rate as 1) I’m only going to be in this apartment for 2 years at most, and 2) with it being summer, and prices being what they are, it’s not the best time to lock in a rate as I’d be overpaying during the winter months.

I’m getting a 1 bedroom apt, roughly 750kwH on avg (usually under 1000kwH). If y’all have any tips or tricks for a situation like this, it’d be much appreciated. Thanks!
