central electric heating??

Hello,

is there anyone who is using central electric heating in Houston? The home I am considering has central electric heating and I am not sure about the cost and the efficiency (I read it heats the water slowly compared to gas heating??). I assume electric heating is more expensive but I am not sure if that’s bearable for me or not. I am new to Houston and my previous home had gas heating so I have no idea, and a leasing agent for this house was not really helpful about the utility bills.

Any sharing is appreciated.

Briar Forest vs Rice military for late 30s male

Hello,

I am moving to Houston this month and am looking for single-family house rent. My price range is about 2000 per month, so I can’t rent a fancy house. I always wanted to rest in a house so an apartment is not an option at all.

My work is in upper Kirby, and I work 14-16 days a month, very flexible (WFH is not an option). My income would be around 150K-200K dependent upon the number of shifts I pick up.

I found the briar forest location and rice military location both offer the access to Bayou bike trail easily. Both seem to be fairly safe. both offer back yard (the rice one is smaller).

Briar forest has 1900 sq while the rice military one is 980 sq. It takes 32 minutes to commute from the Briar forest location (24 mins with a tollway) while it only takes 12 mins from the rice military location without using a tollway. Briar forest is 1820 per month and rice military one is 2000 per month.

The house itself is better and I also like the house located in briar forest better. the house has everything I wanted. But I am not sure how much I will use the nice backyard or 2 other bedrooms. also, commuting seems to be such a hassle.

I would like to get some feedback from you all or any recommendation is appreciated.
