Read MoreStraight bait and switch, but I wanted this car because this engine is pretty rare in these parts… or so I thought. They advertised on FB Marketplace and listed this car for $800.
I got there and it was an “auction.” I sat there and raised my hand up when the car went through. Bid that $800 they listed it as and the guy pointed to the corner where there was no one and said a higher number, then pointed at me to see if I would go higher.
There was only 10 people there and no one and there mom wants a 2000 Saab 9-5 these days. I was flabbergasted that he was pretending someone else bid higher just to get me to raise my price…
Long story super short… I spoke to the guy and he claimed someone else bid, but he would sell it to me for $1k. I left there $2k out of pocket.
I should’ve ran from that place, but I hadn’t seen a 9-5 for sale anywhere near me for a good 6 months and wanted one for an extra engine for my Saab 9-3 Viggen. I do plan to just keep the car running as an extra car until I pay someone to remove the engine and scrap the car down the line.

I received the title in the mail, but no registration or plates. I went back to that place that is only open for “paperwork” from 12-4 Wednesday & Friday and they said they wouldn’t have plates for me. I would need to go to the court house and get them myself?! This was after they had told me to be sure and get the car inspected. They wouldn’t budge on the issue…..
I didn’t think it was possible to transfer a car title without getting the car registered at least. Honestly I’d rather not deal with them and just go to the courthouse and finish this off.
If I go to the courthouse should I be going for replacement plates & Registrations or brand new plates and registration?!
Any help appreciated. This whole thing has been a disaster…
