Read MoreWhilst watching the Bengals v. Ravens game one of the commentators said something interesting about the Bengals. Multiple guys on the Bengals offence said that this year their mentality has switched from playing to get a first down to being able to do more with the ball. Previously in the D4 era, I was expecting every drive to end in a TD. This year my expectations have reduced to, just get a first down. This also lead me to look at what my expectations were for the defences. Previously it was turnovers, 3rd down stops and key third down stops, these were rarely met. This year I hold the same expectations and they have been met more often. Specifically the turnovers, 8 this year after week 7 where as 8 for the whole season last year. Overall the offense has dropped off due to the departure of D4 and the reliance on a rookie QB. The defences has improved inspite of the drop in talent. I’m very optimistic with the regime.

In all honesty I would love a win, but I’m not letting myself expect that. I want to see a couple turnovers by Lovie’s defense and a couple of TD by Kelly’s offense. We don’t need to win, it doesn’t need to be close and mistakes can be made. Overall if there are those positives I’ve mentioned, then I’ll be happy.

Jag’s fans can’t have it both ways. Either your QB sucks because the Texans defense bested you and they stink. Or he’s a work in progress and the Texans defense is good because they bested him. One or the other.

Could Cal have intended for Deshaun to be a main focal point of the GM and head coach interviews and not be part of the process in the decision making room?
I’m struggling to find any quotes that rule this out. Let me know if I’ve misunderstood anything.

The bill o’brien experiment failed, we’re moving on. I really think it’s a stretch to say we’re the worst franchise in the nfl. These are really knee jerk reactions. I really like Culley, caserio, keeping Tim kelly and lovie smith. The franchise looks like it’s trying to solidify, it’s unfortunate that bill o’brien and his firing caused such a slide but we are settling now. Cal and Easterby after making the decision on caserio seem to have taken a back seat. I really like the hard line the Texans are taking with Watson. In a nutshell they’re saying to all other teams, give me an trade offer I can’t refuse. The worst that can happen is he’ll retire and never play a down of football in the NFL again. Which is not the worst thing. The worst thing would be to gift him to another team for cheap and watch him win multiple super bowls. This is where I am, let me know if I’m view through rose glasses. ✌🏻

If he sits out he doesn’t lose a year on his contract and doesn’t get the wear and tear of an NFL season. Texans get a better pick as we will lose without him. Texans don’t have to sign Will Fuller because you don’t need to get weapons for D4? Am I insane for seeing this as a win?

Idea world – He doesn’t get traded and plays 10+ years for the Texans. He’s so happy with his career here he call his first kid Toro.
Next best – Three early firsts. If you can’t ensure they’re early picks, enough capital to trade up. Two firsts and one second for each first you can’t confirm as early.
More achievable – Same value as above however you say remove three of the firsts and give two high end defensive starters. So two firsts, two seconds and two high end defensive starters. High end meaning young and productive.
