Confused about the paperwork needed to sell an existing business in Harris County
My mom is selling her business to retire. The buyer has paid her and received a bill of sale, she has switched over the utilities and lease rental. Informed the health inspector. Now, apparently she needs one final thing from the Secretary of State. Her accountant has filed this “amendment” with the SOS. It got rejected. My brother filed it for her. It got rejected again.
English is her second language and she is not very tech-savvy. I’m driving to Houston today to help her, but I don’t know anything about selling a business. Any insight as to why this keeps happening? What is she even trying to file, I don’t understand how she’s explaining it to me. Any other possible loose ends we need to consider? She’s been dealing with multiple health issues and just needs this off her plate asap. The sale process started months ago and she’s at her wits end.
