I was looking up scorecards and came across a stat that shows how "favored" a team is by umpires.

The Astros have a 45.2% favorable rate with a total favor of -4.79 runs by umpires.

The A’s have a 55.6% favorable rate with a total favor of +9.39 runs.

The Red Sox have a 59.7% favorable rate with a total favor of +10.70 runs.

I highlight those two teams in comparison with us mainly because those are mostly going to be the teams that stand in our way of the playoffs. I found this interesting because the A’s are notorious for winning one run games, so it makes me wonder how inflated their win record is right now.

As for the Red Sox, their performance against us was overall bad this season. But, they creamed most everyone else. It’s difficult to know how good they actually are and if their favorable rate has clutched them any games they would’ve otherwise lost.
