Houston native that’s been away for a while – visiting soon from France with my fiancée and she’s particularly interested in a cocktail bar since that isn’t really as much of a thing here. Bonus points if there’s a decent dinner place nearby (something nice but not stuffy like Paulie’s or Nancy’s Hustle, etc.). My first thought was Anvil but I’m not sure if it’s still as busy as it was (I haven’t been since pre-COVID). I also have decent memories of Bohème but only their frozen mojito.

Any ideas? Location agnostic since we know we’ll be driving.

I don’t remember it being like this but now every time I come to this sub, most of the first 5-10 posts are articles about single crimes. Why? They seem popular so I guess I’m in the minority but do we really need to hear about every local murder or robbery or whatever? Who is posting these also? Sometimes (I don’t have aggregate starts on this), I see it’s from accounts that seemingly only post murder stories (typically only those perpetrated by minorities) in big city subs. Feels like some form of brigading. I don’t know. Am I alone in this?
