If you’ve lived here long enough you’ve probably been through at least one hurricane and a few of our major floods. Have you learned any helpful tips or tricks for preparation that people new to the area might benefit from? Hopefully we don’t have any more hurricanes near us, but the season isn’t quite over yet…

Obviously Harris County makes a list of all kinds of essential items for a hurricane kit, but are there specific things you’ve bought that have worked well for you? (Whether food items or other supplies)

Do you do any unique preparations in your home? (I saw some people fill their washers with ice and drinks??)

Are there specific neighborhoods or streets that are safer than others? (When I first moved here I got caught in Belaire during the 2015 Memorial Day flood)

What all have you learned from experience?
