The Best of John Williams: Star Wars & More by the Houston Symphony – All shows start at 8PM/Jones Hall $29 and up – Catch some of the most iconic film scores from the legendary composer, John Williams, when Houston Symphony and Chorus presents an evening of his blockbuster themes, including works from Jaws, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and more.

Retropalooza Houston – 10AM-5PM/Pasadena TX Convention Center/$20-30 – Bring the fam out for a video game extravaganza featuring YouTube gaming personalities, all-era gaming, contests, competitions and guest panels.

Hopchella at Ingenious Brewing Company – 12PM- 7/5PM/1986 S. Houston Avenue, Humble TX/Free – Expect a live interactive art experience with 20+ artists, live music, interactive art installations, and a community chalk mural. There will also be live music, food trucks, and beer specials.

Houston Cigar Week – 2PM-12AM/Crown Plaza Galleria/$35 and up – The inaugural Houston Cigar Week™ kicked off in 2021 on the week of National Holiday, Memorial Day, and was acclaimed as one of Texas’ biggest cigar festivals to date. The founders include SODO, Spades Cigars™, Westside Smokers, For Smokers Only, John of BIC Crew in collaboration with Texas Cigar Aficionados. The week is set to have approximately 15 cigar-related events, 35+ cigar vendors with a 90% projected sell-out rate, and over 4,000 cigar enthusiasts from around the globe.

Lone Star Flight Museum Memorial Weekend 10AM-5PM/11551 Aerospace Avenue/$18 Adults/$12 Children – Summer fun is ready for take-off! Join us May 28 – 30 for special activities, tours and exhibits for all ages!

Thursday

Chloe Dao Fashion Night in the Heights – 7:30PM/600 N. Sheperd Drive/Free – Season 2 winner and Project Runway alum, Chloe Dao and her team will host a viewing of the documentary “Yellow is Forbidden” as part of her fashion night in the heights series. This doc goes behind the scenes of the infamous yellow dress Rihanna wore to the 2015 Met Gala. Guests are encouraged to wear their own yellow attire for the evening.

Summer Exhibits Opening at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft – 5:30PM-8:00PM/4848 Main Street Houston TX/Free – Join HCCC to celebrate the opening of their summer exhibitions: Made to Last: The Legacy of the Jubilee Quilt Circle and A Dressing the Future: The Ecofiction of Nicole Dextras. The evening will also feature open studios by the current resident artists.

Outdoor Family Movie Night: Sing 2 8:30PM /Levy Park Event Pavilion/Free – Buster Moon and his troupe are back! Family Movie Night, sponsored by Texas Children’s Hospital, presents Sing 2. This free screening begins at 8:30 pm on Friday, May 27 on the Event Lawn. All ages are welcome! No outside furniture is allowed; blankets and park furniture can be used. Snacks and beverages, including beer and wine, will be available from Side Dough an hour prior to the movie through the end of the show. Food and non-alcoholic beverages are available to-go from Woodshed Smokehouse or reserve a table to watch the movie from their patio

Showtek Live in Concert -10PM/Stereo Live Houston/$12 – EDM fans can watch Dutch music duo Showtek live in concert at Stereo Live Houston. The duo includes brothers Wouter and Sjoerd Janssen and is known for collaborations with artists like Chris Brown, David Guetta and Tiësto. Their latest single, Live in a Bubble, features vocals from L.A.-based singer LIIV.

Raul Malo in Concert at the Heights Theatre – 8PM/The Heights Theatre/$28 – The Latin singer-songwriter and frontman of the, Grammy award-winning band, The Mavericks, Raul Malo, takes the stage at The Heights Theater.

The International Festival – 1PM-8PM/Discovery Green/Free – The premier International and Cultural Festival, known for bringing a variety of unique and emerging culture to one place.The International Festival USA is widely regarded as the “Official Celebration of Multi-culturalism and Diversity”. The Festival promotes learning and information exchanges in support of peace, love and friendship. The Festival is the largest and most prominent global project for promoting world peace.

Celebrez en Rose – 12PM-10PM/Water Works at Buffalo Bayou/$85 and up – This one is one of the top black events in Houston this weekend. The Célébrez en Rosé (formerly La Fête du Rosé) wine and music festival, which debuted in Atlanta in 2018, is a picnic-style event. Since its inception, Célébrez en Rosé has attracted thousands of people dressed in their finest pink and white attire from across the country to enjoy premier rosé wine, champagne, and cocktails, as well as world-renowned music lineups, luxurious VIP experiences, share-worthy photo installations, gourmet culinary offerings, and more.

Buzzfest 2022 2:30PM/Cynthia Woods MitchellPavilion/$40 and up – Houston’s premiere rock show returns! BuzzFest is Saturday, May 28th at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion! Our 2022 lineup features Papa Roach, Seether, Bush, The HU, Dead Sara, and 10 Years!

Dreamfest at Dreamland 9:30AM/Dreamland 2770 W HWY 290, Dripping Springs TX/$50 – Dreamland will host the inaugural DreamFest music and arts festival. Performances will include Bob Schneider, Carolyn Wonderland, Del Castillo, Sir Woman, Gina Chavez, Beat Root Revival, Pat Byrne, Braydon Zink, Wyatt Weaver Band, and Calder Allen. In addition to the musical performances, DreamFest will host an artisan market offering a curated selection from dozens of artists of various mediums showcasing their work and offering it for sale. There will also be a beer garden, miniature golf courses, disc golf, pickleball, and more.

Memorial Day Fireworks at the Woodlands – 5PM/Fireworks at 8:55PM/2099 Lake Robbins Drive, The Woodlands TX/Free – The Sunday event pays tribute to all military service men and women who lost their lives while serving the United States. The festival features live music, children’s activities, strolling entertainment and more at Town Green Park. The evening concludes with a dazzling fireworks display* choreographed to a patriotic soundtrack. Concessions will be available for purchase. Please be advised the Festival beverage booth will be cashless. Guests may pay with cash but will need to have exact change.

Houston Cars and Cocktails – 11AM-2PM/Little Woodrow’s Tomball – Free/21+ only – Private lot for (300) parking spots. VIP and Club parking sections. Parking will be organized but flexible. Fully fenced area with gates and overflow parking. This event will be geared toward high performance cars, trucks, bikes, hotrods, classic muscle, and off-road trucks. We want to be clear that this is an open event. We want top tier cars and solid folks out there. We want to bring you some of the fastest and nicest rides… some well built trucks on and off road. Bring on the bikes!

Astros vs Texas Rangers 5/19-5/22 Home Games

Reptilian Nation Expo 5/21-22/NRG Center $15 – NRG is where you should be this weekend if you’re a fan of reptiles. The annual Reptilian Nation Expo will commence starting on Saturday, where you’ll get to observe everything from snakes and spiders to frogs and crustaceans.

Galveston Beach Revue 5/20-5/22 – Galveston Beach Revue returns May 20-22 to celebrate Seawall Boulevard’s vintage history. The annual revue showcases vintage-inspired fun, headlined by the Bathing Beauties contest, next to Galveston’s historic shoreline. Classic car shows, food and vintage vendrs, concessions, and other event attractions can be found throughout Beach Central. This year’s event includes a new men’s category, dance lessons and contests, increased kid’s programming, and an extended Bathing Beauties contest, which is a popular favorite!

Thursday

New Kids on the Block Live in Concert – 7:30PM/Toyota Center – Boston boy band New Kids On The Block, is reviving the nostalgia of their glory days with their “Mixtape Tour 2022.” The group will perform at the Toyota Center for one night of hits, alongside Salt-N-Pepa, Rick Astley, and En Vogue.

UHD Thursday Concerts: Paul Wall ft Doc Loc & the Swangers/ DJ Mav – 7PM-9:30PM/Fondren Performance Square – Live music at Discovery Green is back this spring with Thursday Night Concerts sponsored by University of Houston-Downtown! Rapper, DJ and entrepreneur, Paul Wall is one of Texas’s most successful independent musicians. Led by Dr. Henry Darragh, Doc Loc and the Swangers is a big band that puts an unusual twist to famous Houston hip-hop by arranging it for big band and small group. Houston Grand Opera performs Romeo and Juliet – 8PM-10PM/Miller Outdoor Theater in Hermann Park Free but tickets required – Featuring a gorgeously opulent score, this is French opera at its finest, with soaring duets for the star-crossed lovers, beautiful choral harmonies, and sumptuous new sets and costumes. Radiant soprano Elena Villalón and outstanding tenor Ricardo Garcia, both current members of the prestigious HGO Studio, sing the titular lovers, with Grammy Award-winning baritone Donnie Ray Albert, and HGO favorite, as Lord Capulet. HGO Resident Conductor Benjamin Manis takes the podium, and HGO Chorus Master Richard Bado leads the chorus.

First Art Bike Parade & Festival – Festivities start at 9 am, and the parade begins at 10 am at MacGregor Park/5225 Calhoun Rd, Houston, TX 77021 – Following the footsteps of the successful, iconic Art Car Parade, Houston Parks Board, Orange Show Center for Visionary Art, and HISD Fine Arts Department are excited to make history with the first-ever Houston Art Bike Parade & Festival 2022! The city will witness a colorful parade of unique and beautifully designed art bikes! This day-long arts and culture festival will bring together communities and youth programs from across Houston to explore personal creativity, promote health and wellness, and honor the artist in everyone!

GreenStreet 10th Anniversary – 10AM-3PM/1320 Fannin St – GreenStreet is turning 10!The anniversary event will feature Yoga on the Lawn with Lifetime Fitness accompanied by a live DJ, followed by a 50+ vendor market, live music, live art, and happy hour! This event is free to attend and paid parking is available in the GreenStreet Garage.

Art Tour: ‘Making Home: Artists and Immigration’ – 11AM-12PM/Asia Society 1370 Southmore Blvd $10 – Making Home: Artists and Immigration focuses on immigration and related themes through the works of Phung Huynh, Beili Liu, Tuan Andrew Nguyen, and Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya. The exhibition engages with the individual, lived experiences of immigration through the paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, and installations of the four featured artists.

Czech May Fest – 11AM-6PM/Czech Center Museum/4920 Jacinto Street – This month, the Czech Center Museum Houston invites everyone to come out, learn and partake in the Czech culture here in the city. This is the perfect event to bring the entire family to feast, participate in contests, try new cuisines, play games, and have fun in the sun. And of course, there’ll be flower crowns! Competitive Kolache Eating contest at 1:30PM.

Bud Light 4th Annual Suck the Head Crawfish Festival – 12PM-10PM/Playground 2415 Main Street – For over 4 years we have been hosting this crawfish fest, and every year it gets crazier with more and more people coming out. All you can eat crawfish and 10 DJs playing.

Road to River Revival Music Fest – 6:30PM-10PM/Historic Market Square Houston 301 Milam Street – Band Playing: Honey Island Swamp Band with Colin Lake. Grab a blanket, some lawn chairs and your best friends and head to down town Houston for some live music at Market. This concert series is the official count down to Texas’ most intimate camping and music festival, River Revival, brought to you by Splice Records, Saint Arnold Brewing Company and the Downtown District.

Flea by Night – 6PM-10PM/Discovery Green 1500 McKinney – Flea by Night is an open-air market featuring Houston artisans and small business owners selling vintage, handmade, recycled, repurposed and local goods with entertainment and food trucks.

Sunday

Night Market at the POST 4PM-8PM – Stop by the Front Plaza for a Market celebrating AAPI / BIPOC creators, makers, and causes in Houston brought to you by “Have a Nice Day Market”. They’re partnering with Senior Fest to showcase some of the best vendors in the city for an event filled with food, crafts, music, art, and fun!

An Evening with Neil Gaiman – 8PM – Jones Hall/615 Louisiana – Today, as one of the most celebrated writers of our time, his popular and critically acclaimed works, including Good Omens (with Terry Pratchett), Coraline, American Gods and the Sandman comics, bend genres and reach audiences of all ages.
