I got pulled over for going 72 in a 45, and I'm not sure if it matters but I was on a service road going onto I69 and was already on the freeway when the cop pulled me over. My question is: should I bother hiring a lawyer to try to get it dismissed, or should I try to request deferred disposition by myself? I was also wondering if it'd be possible to move my court date earlier, and if I can request deferred disposition then (if the cop shows; otherwise plead not guilty, right?). It's my first ticket so any help is appreciated.
