Because that’s not the ONLY thing he wants. Go back to his previous statements regarding Tim Kelly AND Will Fuller. Deshaun can’t show satisfaction with the right (Bienemy) coach hiring. He has to be “disgruntled” for as long as it takes to get EVERYTHING he wants/needs.

And to be clear….at least on the Bienemy & Fuller fronts…..I completely agree with Deshaun. Getting Bienemy and not having any legit weapons on OFF besides Cook isn’t gonna accomplish much of anything. If KC was ONLY Hill & Mahomes they wouldn’t be nearly as good. Same goes for here. They need multiple WRs (Fuller/Cooks/Coutee would be disgusting), a Solid RB (all we have is 1 more season of Duke), and a legit TE (we have 3 backup TEs on our roster). We have OL talent that just needs to be coached up right IMO. Cobbs needs to be cut. His contract is just too big for what he can bring to the table. Draft Brevin Jordan (TE) out of Miami in the 3rd/4th round…this OFF will put up points.

Before you talk about our OFF already putting up points….we do that almost exclusively playing from behind. We need an OFF that’s gonna jump on DEF quick and big. Put the other team’s OFF behind and make them start pressing. This can help the DEF by allowing them to play against an OFF put under pressure.

Yes we are in trouble on DEF. But being in cap hell means we can’t fix both sides of the ball this offseason. Make the OFF one to be afraid of and maybe we can cover up some DEF deficiencies. They need to offer Watt an extension at a reduced cap hit. If he won’t take it, as sad as it is, we have to cut him. I think we need to move on from Mercilus too. We need to find solid/inexpensive DEF players that can compete until we get the cap under control.

Deshaun is actually doing what’s best for the franchise and so many seem to not see it. And if the franchise doesn’t want to go down that road….I’m sure Watson & Fuller will ball out in MIA.

Here is my HOPEFUL theory of what we are actually seeing.

Cal demonstrated that he is going to do his own thing with the franchise. It really pissed Deshaun off how he handled the GM search.

Easterby is also causing issues behind the scene trying to build a team he envisions and is missing the mark. From what I’ve read online, if what is being reported is actually happening, as a fan I’m disappointed, and as a Christian, I’m HUGELY Disappointed.

Now for the hope:

Deshaun is VERY smart. He can see what is happening, and has a great idea/plan on what needs to happen. I also LOVE the concept of what I think he is trying to do. The threat of withholding his services or forcing a trade is meant simply to FORCE the Texans into bringing Deshaun’s plan to fruition.

First….Eric Bienemy….Deshaun wants him as the coach. He wants to throw the rock in a system as similar to the Chiefs as possible. Think what you will of Bienemy, but there is no way he is as overrated as people think. Maholmes has recommended him to Deshaun. That carries weight. There is NO way he has been under Reid this long and not picked up a LOT of knowledge, experience, and ideas. This hire would allow for us to keep Tim Kelley, which Deshaun wants, but to really change the OFF identity as well. The biggest thing Bienemy would need to do….find a GREAT DC.

Second….Will Fuller…Deshaun wants him back. He wants to be throwing to Fuller/Cook/Cobb/Coutee. Those are WEAPONS in the right system. Find a solid TE (Brevin Jorden from Miami would be GREAT). Coach up the OLINE and we can start cooking on OFF. RB is still a question mark, but I think you can find some serviceable ones for cheap.

From there, we just need to figure out how to improve DEF…and that’s gonna be hard with a lot of the overpaid players we have there. But this team CAN rebound HARD next year with the right pieces. I’m hoping Deshaun believes that too and is just trying to leverage himself as a way to get the right pieces. And if HOU doesn’t want to work towards that….then TRADE HIM. I’m a huge fan of his, and if Cal McNair and Easterby don’t want to make this work…then let him do it elsewhere.
