Kusama Infinity Room Reopens 9/21 at MFAH

Yayoi Kusama’s Aftermath of Obliteration of Eternity references the annual Buddhist TĹŤrĹŤ nagashi (Water Lantern) ceremony honoring one’s ancestors.

The work is a permanent installation in the Kinder Building and reopens September 21. First-come, first-served basis, advance reservations are not available. On Thursdays, MFAH general admission is free.

#MuseumStoreSunday – Support Houston Shops

Today is Museum Store Sunday, below is a list of a few local shops you can support when shopping for the holidays. Many of them have an online component.

Asia Society: https://asiastore.org

The Cottage Shop at Bayou Bend: https://www.mfah.org/visit/bayou-bend-collection-and-gardens/shop-bayou-bend/

Houston Museum of Natural Science: https://museumstore.hmns.org

The Menil Collection Bookstore: www.menil.org/bookstore

The MFA Shop: https://www.mfah.org/visit/museum-shop

I wish the Contemporary Arts Museum shop was open—it’s a great place to find ornaments and unique gifts.

Stay safe, mask up, and try to support small local businesses during this time if you are able. If you know of other good museum shops, add them in the comments!

Houston Resources to End Human Trafficking

I’ve seen a lot of posts lately on this thread about human trafficking in Houston, so I wanted to share a few resources with the community:

COH Mayor’s Office Anti-Human Trafficking Division

https://humantraffickinghouston.org

United Against Human Trafficking

https://uaht.org

Elijah Rising

It’s easy to get involved and donate. There are more organizations located in Houston, just Google it. Also, if you follow local news outlets, you’ll see articles about this issue often. Stay educated and stay involved. Beware of spreading misinformation, it hurts organizations that are doing real work to help real victims.
