Is there some sort of racism going on between the Latino and Black community in Houston area?
I’m from one of the northern states and the Latino community and I get along well at bars and other places. I am not black but I am a darker complexion Indian from Eastern part of the world.
Out of the 3 latino restaurant/bars I went to. Only 1 of them treated me nice. The other two rushed me into paying when I had 1 thing to eat and ordered 1 drink, I wasn’t even done drinking yet and wanted to order more. The first place I went to the lady came back twice to try and get me to pay at the bar despite me not even finished eating nor drinking and 2nd time I laughed and told her I’m not even finished drinking yet and I wanna order more drinks and she came to her senses but I can’t help and wonder if she thought I wasn’t gonna pay because I am darker complexion. The 2nd one I went to was a nice latino guy and he didn’t show any suspicion of me and served me as many drinks I wanted yesterday. The 3rd restaurant bar was a latino one inside a Mall that I went to. After his my first drink she brings me payment slip and she wasn’t behind the bar when she did this. And after my 2nd drink she refused more drinks for me saying manager said so, and I wasn’t drunk and it was my first 2 shots of the day. I weigh 205lbs and am not driving and took Uber and my body doesn’t get affected by a mere 2 shots. The manager arrived and mentioned it is a rule of the restaurant. I was pretty sure she/they were lying just to get a darker skin toned man out of the restaurant/bar fast.
And FYI through out all this I am dressed nice and not criminal or bum looking or anything. And at the Guess store at a mall here I had a latino woman who works there as I assume asset protection observing me across a small barrier to see if I am gonna be stealing. Maybe they deal with theft a lot but I wonder if they keep eye on darker skinned people disproportionately.
The place I come from which is in the northern states, I get along with the bar tenders and latino and white folks just fine. I never have issues with white bar tenders or restaurant workers. I’m at one now where the white lady is friendly and serving me.
