Fort Bend Police department must have a serious budgetary deficit this month. All week I have seen an unreal amount of cops pulling people over for minor driving infractions. Be careful this weekend!

Normally I see this kind of behaviour at the end of the month but for the past 4-5 days I have seen a huge uptick in fort bend PD sitting and pulling over hard working people going slightly over the speed limit.

It’s mainly in the area north of Sugarland, and south of Cinco ranch on the west side.

2 days ago around my block there were 3 people pulled over on one stretch of road as I went to HEB – so when I went back home I went the other way to avoid them, and there was another 4 fort bend PD cops sitting on the other side waiting for people to slip also.

It’s very unusual, even for revenue collection that they would go this hard.

Need to have my roof replaced, I see this happening very frequently across Houston. Looking for advice

Hello,

So my roof started leaking the last storm we had a week or so ago, and I had an inspection..

Roof is 15 years old but is in bad shape, Texas heat, winds, hail etc. Roofer has said I 100% have a complete replacement claim, also since my shingles are older he would have trouble sourcing a match.

He said that he’d upgrade me for ‘free’ to Architectural shingles. They kind of look 3d versus the normal flat ones..

I did a wee bit of research and they are indeed better, but seems that they are much less labor intensive to install – so probably why they offer the ‘free’ upgrade.

Anyway, before I contact my insurance company and come up with my deductible – I just wanted to see if there was any good advice on things to be aware of.

I’ve never replaced a roof and I know nothing about roofs other than what I just typed.

One of my driveway slabs just rose 2" on one side, is that because of the drought? Or just coincidence? Are we supposed to be taking any precautions to your driveways or anything right now?

Not from here so this is all new to me. I have sprinklers but I’m noticing some of my slabs on the driveway on up on my pathway to my door have rose about 2″ on one corner.

Just not sure if this is normal, if the ground is so dry it’s shrinking? I have no idea.

Seeing a trend with houses that go for sale in my neighbourhood. They go for sale for less than 1 week and then the sign comes down, then a week later a sign comes up putting it up for lease. This has happened multiple times over and over, can’t be coincidence

So, I’m a little confused – my first thought is that someone is buying them up fast and the turning around and rentinf them out?

But whenever I bought a house it took over a month to close and get all the paperwork done, so it surely can’t be that people are selling to property tycoons who are renting, surely?

I thought maybe the people selling changed their minds and flip flopped from selling to renting, but each time it’s a different realtor sign leasing than the one that was selling a few weeks before.

Its just a little concerning as I’ve went from a neighbourhood full of neighbours I know, to over the past 10 years I think only 3 of us in the entire street are owners now. The rest lease.

And this pattern keeps happening.

Really need some help finding a good Physiotherapist

Hello guys, I’m at a complete loss. I’ve been referred to a Physiotherapist to treat my ruptured disc post procedure.

I’ve been to two different memorial Hermann locations (that are close by and approved by my insurance) and both locations seriously suck.

I think memorial Hermann just wants my insurance money because once you’re signed up you are treated like one of many plates being spun by the Physiotherapist.

Both locations on numerous occasions had the physio tell me to do an exercise as they ran around tending to 3 or 4 other patients booked in the exact same time I was.

For the money I paid for multiple sessions I got nothing other than an instructor sheet printed off of basic exercises to do. No actual directions, or supervision from the physio.

Anyway, I don’t mind how far I have to travel within Houston… I just don’t want to waste any more time rehabbing my back injury going to these massive McHospitals that just want your money and don’t actually have much patient care.

Does anyone have any experience with physiotherapists in Houston? My experiences so far, have not been good.

I had some serious back issues and have had them somewhat fixed, and have been referred to physio by my doctor.

I’ve done this twice now, and both times the experience has not been good.

I’ve tried memorial Hermann twice, in different locatjons. The physio’s are nice and good at their job to a point, but wether its memorial Hermann pushing them too hard or their own time mismanagement I find the following issues:

1) I’m always being seen during my appointment with multiple patients being attended to by my physio also. It reminds me a bit like a plate juggling act, that is the physio would get me to do one exercise, and then tell me to rep it as they run over to the next person and do the same.

My issue with this is that I’m rehabbing a serious injury, and you’re not going to watch me squat to ensure I have 100% correct posture, muscle activation etc?

2) I get different physio’s all the time. I have a specific Injury and a specific sport that I am trying my hardest to return to. When I come back the following week and a different physio doesn’t even know what exercises I’ve been doing for the week – well, it’s quite frustrating.

I’ve called around and a few of the places that sound good all tell me they don’t do insurance. I have to file the claims through my own insurance after paying them.

My insurance won’t cover a penny in this instance until $5k out of pocket, because these independent people aren’t ‘in network’ or something.

This is my first time dealing with physio’s in this country. Is this how it’s always done? Where I’m from you see a physio and you have his attention for the booking. It’s very similar to a physicians appointment in that they are focused on helping you.

Interesting places near Houston for day or weekend trips

Hi guys,

I’ve lived in Houston a while now and I work a lot as most of you do too. I use my vacations to go somewhere far once a year, since I don’t get that much vacation time (15 days a year in sick time. Woohoo!).

This year me and my wife have decided to get out of the city more and explore what Texas has to offer either in a day trips or weekend trips, leaving Friday afternoon coming back on Sunday.

Thing is we are both immigrants and not really sure where to start or what are the best places to visit.

We really are into most things, history, nature, anything that’s not a big sprawling concrete City (which isn’t a bad thing it’s just we want to get out of this place once in a while).

Any advice would be awesome.
