Read MoreHurricane Hanna a few weeks ago and now this monster Laura to our east.
I don’t think people realize how extremely lucky we have gotten so far and it makes you think how badly prepared we are if a hurricane the magnitude of Laura would be on this city. Take the current situation in Lake Charles or the Golden Triangle at the moment and spread it across the vast city and surrounding areas of Houston. It would be a humanitarian disaster and I don’t think Houston would ever recover economically from a storm this strong.
If it had taken a route similar to Ike or even just east of Galveston Bay, we would be in utter ruins with no clue on how to pick up the pieces. It has been 3 years since Harvey and still people are recovering from a storm that didn’t even make landfall on our coast.
Just a thought that came through my mind as it made landfall in Cameron, LA.
