Astros Dominant Wins – Game #2

This is the second video of a 10-day series highlighting the Astros most dominant wins.

Game #2 – 08/15/18 vs. Rockies

The Rockies were actually good this year, making it to the post-season on the shoulders of Arenado, Story, Lemahieu. Cole keeps them quiet with 12 Ks over 6. On the offensive side, Evan Gattis breaks out of his slump with a 3-hit game, while Tyler white hits 2 bombs. A newly-arrived Pressly strikes out the side in the 7th inning, just an inkling of what’s to come for him.

Want to watch some of the best Astros wins ever?

This offseason, I set out to find the biggest trouncings our team has delivered over the past 5 years. I checked all of the Astros regular season games since 2018 and selected any that had a run differential of 8 or more. I paired down my list to the final ten candidates, considering the opponent’s strength and HR/K stats for each game, along with other metrics.

I am going to be releasing one video a day on this sub, leading up to the first game of spring training on Feb. 25. Let’s get excited over Astros baseball together and talk about some of these gems in our history.

Game 1 – 8/4/18 @ LA Dodgers – W, 14-0

The year after their World Series encounter, these two titans meet again at Dodger Stadium. The Astros, with 10 wins over the Dodgers at this point, are considered favorites. And boy, did we deliver.

A young Lance McCullers Jr. and a loose Cock from the pen outduel Kenta Maeda. The Astros offense explodes late in this one, with 9 runs scored in the 8th and 9th inning. Reddick and Gonzalez go yard. Maldonado gets his first major league hit, and his second one too. Bullpen preserves the shutout.
