I'm a native Houstonian (so I'm allowed to talk s**t about our bike infrastructure) that goes to college in a big city that has a pretty great bike network. I commute almost daily on my bike here, and plan on getting around Houston with it when I'm home for the summer. Since our bike infrastructure is egregiously abysmal, I'll be on the roads for a lot of it. If I take a whole lane, as cyclists should for our own safety, how aggressive will the drivers be? In other words, should I invest in a car horn for my bike?

I'm from Houston, and I simply don't understand why Bellaire isn't a part of Houston? Is there some financial reason? (Property taxes, etc.) Or is it more cultural?
