Bathroom Keys and ID
Fellow Houstonians, is it normal for a building to have a policy in place for building visitors in which they hold your ID in exchange for a bathroom key?
I had a job interview and was rushing, so I stopped by on the first floor of the building to use the restroom but the building keeps all the bathrooms locked. I was told by the guy at the convenience store on the first floor that he had to hold my ID because of building policy in order to get the bathroom keys back.
Honestly, if it wasn’t for the fact that I needed to use the bathroom, I wouldn’t have agreed as this is the first time this has ever happened to me in this type of setting. Just want to know if this common/normal or if it’s something I should be concerned about.
