Read MoreTwo early twenties driving down from Houston, main concern would be that SPI is too far of a drive given we’re leaving Friday afternoon and coming back the following Monday afternoon. We could do both, but maybe that’d be too rushed. We could alternatively split into 2 weekends and do SPI for the 3 day weekend and and Corpus for a regular Saturday/Sunday weekend.
We’re not interested in drinking or touristy stuff (like the aquarium/USS Lexington), mainly interested in the beach. Thanks!

Hello Houston real estate mavens, I’m considering buying a 450k single family home in inner loop Houston near the Heights in Shady Acres. I’m not sure of my long term plans, but I probably wouldn’t live in this house for more than 2 years; I’d probably rent it out as an investment property for a couple more years after that until the house goes above water in the future. An adjacent home (that was pretty much exactly the same) sold for 430k in January, under the same seller and agent for the other home. The home has been listed for 2-3 weeks, and when I went to the open house there were other families there – the home has gained decent traction. I’m not working with an agent right now so the seller agent for the house is also the buyer agent (hence they get to double dip in 3% fees for both buyer and seller). I originally placed an offer at list price, it was accepted, and then we signed the contract with a marginal option fee, but ended up deciding to back out yesterday due to economic uncertainty and high mortgage rates (5.125%). Once I told the seller agent this, he gradually offered me larger discounts, I declined, until he ultimately offered me a $10k discount to go through with the transaction. I find it hard to believe that he doesn’t have any other comparable offers at this point, and I suspect the house was overvalued at listing time… does anyone have advice for what to do in this situation?

Anyone have suggestions for a beginner class (either one-time or continued sessions could work)? Looked online and the only one I could find was at Starting Strength which is $185 a class; not a super tight budget but something under $100/person would …
Read MoreHi, I’m moving down from the East Coast this week and know that I have to get my car registered in TX within 30 days of moving here. The vehicle inspection shouldn’t be a problem, but I’ve been looking at availability at the tax office (https://www.hctax.net/Auto/Appointments/Appointment) but I work on weekdays so probably won’t be able to go then (I do see appointments starting 7:20am which would be ok, but online says the offices open at 8??)… I’ve seen online that occasionally walk-ins are accepted, does anyone have experience with getting a walk-in in the past month or so? Or using a third party like https://www.thetexasautotitlecompany.com/ or any other potential solution like if it’d at all be possible for me to do this online/through email/phone/mail? I’m just out of college and this is my first time doing all of this… would appreciate any help. Thank you!
