I'm still mainly cooking at home or doing takeout, but in case I want to go for an outing somewhere, where are some eateries that would at least be "relatively" safe to venture out to while being outdoors and socially distanced?

EDIT: I'm in the Cypress area so anything around there would be a plus! But I got a car, so I'm down with any part of the city.

Mental health check: How’s everybody doing? https://houstonnewmedia.org/mental-health-check-hows-everybody-doing/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=mental-health-check-hows-everybody-doing Tue, 28 Jul 2020 21:35:24 +0000 http://houstonnewmedia.org/?guid=f5ac08030243f2583754ec992f7d8a3c

Idk about y'all but the past few days I've been just straight up bummed about life and everything in general. It hasn't been all rosy since the start of the pandemic(had a rough break up in early March right before the worldwide chaos) but I honestly felt like I've been handling all that's been going on pretty decently the past 4 1/2 months.

That is until I started reaching a breaking point yesterday and just cried in bed from emotional exhaustion. I've been in therapy for the past few months and it's been helping somewhat but there are some days where I suddenly feel like everything's crashing down. The constant negative news about people suffering and getting sick, racial injustice, plus many other things with inept, selfish leaders doing jack s**t about it has been exhausting and I think I'm gonna detox from the news entirely from a while.

So anyway, yeah, that's my mini rant.. How are the rest of y'all holding up, Houston?

Remote volunteer opportunities? https://houstonnewmedia.org/remote-volunteer-opportunities/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=remote-volunteer-opportunities Thu, 26 Mar 2020 03:40:04 +0000 http://houstonnewmedia.org/?guid=72eb53318deb1e8e6bb034661aec3e84

I want to see if there are ways I can contribute and help the community while still staying in my house during this stay-at-home order. I'm leaning towards online math tutoring for students since schools are closed (I have previous experience teaching at academic camps), but I'm open for any opportunities where I can still contribute. If you know of organizations you recommend for me to look into, please let me know! Thanks in advance!
