I feel like this belongs more in r/offmychest so please take this down if so.
My great granddad was a big baseball fan. He had season tickets at the Dome for many years. The last game he went to before he passed was when we took him to the first Opening Day at then Enron Field. It was so hot and vendors kept wanting to get him out of the sun but he was a stubborn old coot. I was 10 at the time and he passed away the following year.
So every time we make the playoffs now, I think of him and how much he would have loved seeing our guys hammer their way to their first WS in 05, owning the Yankees year after year and going to 4 WS in 6 years, winning two of them.
I never cry at family funerals but for some reason thinking about how awesome our guys are and watching us make the postseason every year gets me emotional because my great granddad didn’t live to see it.
So my fellow fans, who do you wish could have lived to see our guys rule the league?
