Schedule Prediction Poll Results
Sometime this offseason I got the idea, the not so bright idea, to poll each team’s sub to see their teams predictions game by game. That way you could get a sense of how that team’s fans perceived not only their team but the other teams in the league. It seemed to be a decent indication of how much fans respected other teams (in addition to how fans viewed their own teams).
I also asked for season record predictions, which confused some people. The reason is, the consensus game-by-game prediction was often different than the consensus overall prediction. To illustrate why (and please skip the rest of this paragraph if you already understand why) imagine a team with 3 fans that plays 3 games. Each fan thinks the team will go 2-1 but each fan thinks the team will lose a different game. The consensus game-by-game prediction would be 3-0, even though no individual fan thinks thinks the team will go 3-0.
I should note that one sub did not allow this post because they only allowed polls that related to the team and asking about the team record was not about the team. So I had to also post on this sub.
OK, so overall based on game-by-game predictions redditors are predicting a total of 364 wins and 1 tie, which is impressive in a 272 game season. They were much more reasonable with the overall predictions with only 330 wins (ties were not allowed in this case).
After the teams the columns are what the mode was for total record prediction, what the total was game by game for the fans of each team, and the total game by game of opponents. (So fans of teams facing the Bills assumed that their team would lose that game each week but one).
