I'm a teacher and coach at a North Houston charter school. We play in a league but there aren't nearly enough games and scrimmages are hard to schedule this time of year unless you have a lot of relationships.

We are building confidence but break is hitting and would love to get some games in over the next month and looking for any ideas or recs. They are 7th and 8th grade boys. We'd be down to schedule something or just show up somewhere and wait our turn.

We also have a great facility that will be empty from Friday until Jan 3 if you have a team and want to play some games.

Considering everything automobile related in this city is like a different planet compared to where I’m originally from in Washington, I have to imagine there are some quirks and nuances when it comes to buying cars that one only learns from experience.

I'm finally thinking about replacing the car I moved here with, and am a bit overwhelmed by the extent of the car buying market. I'm mostly interested in the culture of sales, what type of salespeople I should expect, what kind of tricks they pull, and if there are any "hacks" in terms of maximizing time and value (negotiating). My first hunch is that at the end of the day there is so much competition that dealers just need to move as many cars as possible so I have some leverage if I know go in knowing exactly what I want, but locals know best.

Any tips would be helpful. If it matters I'm looking for a specific mid-00s japanese sports car in the range of 14-16k, so likely mid-tier dealers who are financing.

Any recommendations for places to get replica soccer jerseys? Good quality but not exactly licensed products. The type you'd get off eBay or Ali Express or in a street market in Mexico. Single dude far from family and recently moved here so not many friends outside of work.

A few years ago in a similar situation (this time in GDLMX) I found a restaurant serving Thanksgiving plates and had a very wonderful afternoon (turkey wasn't too dry and each plate came with three Tequila shots).

Moving into a new apartment at the end of the month. My last place had landlord-paid electric but here I will need to have it in my name. I can read about them on power to choose, but I’m hoping for some anecdotal advice from houstonians regarding which power company to go with.

Some factors to consider: I’m a schoolteacher who commutes so I am usually from 6:30 am to 5:30-6pm on weekdays. The apartment has two window-mounted AC units but it's a very small place. Appliances include fridge, microwave, gas stove, dishwasher (will use that very rarely). I have a medium sized TV that's usually on when I'm home and awake. The lease term is 12 months.

Thanks for having me. I’m in town interviewing for a job with the hope of moving here. I’m a white dude who has spent years in Latin America and speak Spanish fluently. As there are so many speakers in Houston, I have a strange question about when it’s appropriate to speak Spanish to someone.it’s a clunky way to ask if it’s considered rude to assume someone is a Spanish speaker because they may appear to have LatAm heritage?

Obviously if it’s a majority Spanish neighborhood or a restaurant where it’s made very clear that they are a Spanish establishment it's easy to get it from context clues , I’m more asking about polite salutations, public settings, someone who might need a hand, etc. just those small one on moments. Like, can I throw a “con permiso" out there if I have to get by someone in the store? Or you want to make a joke to a stranger at the bus stop or something.

Would it be considered rude or polite, or neither?
