All these "lock your car" posts on neighborhood aps

Am I the only person who actually uses their garage for its intended purpose? I keep seeing these posts of people playing the pity card because their car was rummaged through.

In every video in my neighborhood – 2 car garage and both cars in the driveway. I keep seeing neighbors say “just lock it”, but i think the city of houston needs to learn a lesson in prevention vs mitigation.

Locking your car is a mitigation measure – it only decreases the possibility of something being stolen or broken into. What happens when they get desperate or see something they really want? They bust the window – did it do my dads truck parked on the street in Memorial.

What y’all need to do is prevent the opportunity from even happening. Clean out your dirty garage and park your car inside. Without a vehicle in plain sight they run off. They decide they wanna break into the home, now the police will get interested.

Its almost as if people want to be victims…

And to the – “my new BMW got robbed in my apartment complex” – y’all got a whole other problem you’re dealing with.

DIY and need some input – Home Insulation

Yes, this really belongs in DIY, but Houston is kinda special in that we live in a swamp, so there’s water everywhere. The books don’t really have a chapter on “houston insulation”, just info on for like 75% of the country where it actually snows.

I have a 1970’s era home with tar/mod bit paper and 3/4″ plywood exterior, then insulation board and vinyl. We’re taking out the old drywall to rewire and insulate (denim for interior walls, R13 for exterior walls). Anything wrong with using faced insulation with the paper on the inside, or should I just use unfaced insulation?
