Recommendations for a gynecologist that doesn’t do obstetrics?

Is there a such thing as a doctor who focuses on gynecology and not obstetrics, and if so does anyone have any recommendations? I don’t want kids but I find that many OBGYNs don’t seem to hear me when I say that.

I’m looking for someone who listens and is willing to help me find the root cause of some health concerns I have, instead of pushing me out the door as quickly as possible and trying to get me to just use hormonal birth control to paper over my health issues.

In town would be great, but I don’t mind a drive to the suburbs for a good doctor.

TIA!

Staying off the freeways these days

Does anyone else feel like the highways are getting too dangerous to navigate in Houston? If I have to go to the burbs or something I’ll jump on the freeway but lately when I have to go anywhere that’s within 10 miles or less, I feel far more comfortable on the side streets. It adds time to my trips but it feels like a small price to pay for not having to deal with the terror of the Houston freeways. I always see cars driving insanely fast, or the opposite–the other day a woman in a minivan with kids in the back was driving like 20 mph on a very busy highway, causing a huge hazard. The tailgating, the changing lanes without looking, the aggressiveness…I’ve lived in Houston for over a decade and never had a fear of driving on the freeways despite it always being a bit hairy, but within the last year it’s just gotten so bad. Am I the only one who has started avoiding the freeways as much as possible?

Less crowded dog parks?

With the weather getting nicer I’ve been wanting to take my dog to some dog parks to run around and work off some energy. However, the ones in town near me are always packed and he gets a little overstimulated and stressed.

Are there any dog parks further outside of town that are a little more calm? I don’t mind driving up to 30 min from Garden Oaks where we live.

TIA!

Afghan evacuees are arriving in Houston. Here’s what you need to know and how to help.

https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Things-you-need-to-know-about-Afghan-evacuees-in-16396055.php

I hate to be that person but I can’t read this article because I don’t have a subscription. Can anyone with more tech smarts than me or a Chronicle subscription please tell me how I can help Afghan refugees coming to Houston?

wasp nests under the eaves of my house

I have regular pest control service that comes and treats the interior and exterior of my home, including the eaves around the perimeter of my house. However twice in the last few months I’ve discovered that a wasp nest has suddenly sprung up by my front door, like RIGHT above the front door. Additionally I’ve found dead wasps trapped in the bathroom fan vent covers in one of my bathrooms. They are too big to get through the small openings in the vent cover so they just kind of die there but I can see their legs sticking out of the holes and it creeps me the hell out.

Several pest control companies have told me you can’t really prevent wasps using their products unless you spray directly onto the bug and I do believe them. But just wondering if anyone has had any luck repelling these suckers using plants, sprays, etc. Anything that might discourage them from making nests next to my front door or coming into my bathroom vent?

I’m not sure if I’m unlucky if these are common issues, but either way it’s really bothering me knowing that every time I step out my front door I run the risk of getting stung 🙁
