Hot Take: The food here tastes better because driving to get them is a challenge in of itself.
Oh the Thai restaurant is 6 miles away? Well prepare to sit in traffic for 45 minutes as cars with expired paper plates make the most egregious traffic maneuvers, but oh, once you get there and get parking sorted out. The food is tastes heavenly, partly because it is just that good, and part because you almost died a dozen times trying to get there.
