Voter Registration in Harris County

So I was on the Harris county Tax office site and I see all the options to register involve mailing in the form.

No electronic method is offered whatsover besides the option to prepopulate the form online and then print it- then mail it (at your own cost, I assume).

With most offices that offer these forms closed- I was just wondering why no one has complained about this possible voter disenfranchisement ( most states I know offer online registration). So one can get a prepaid postage ballot in the mail but one cannot get a prepaid voter reg form in the mail, doesn’t make sense.

So at this point with the offices closed:

– one needs to have printer access

-one needs to get an envelope and postage to mail in their form

I know some might say this is not complex..but whats the difference with the voter ID requirement concerns?

New Resident.. trying to register my car

So I am having a dilemma with government offices closed.

I moved to Houston from out of state in April and haven’t been able to register my car nor get a drivers license because I apparently need to own a vehicle registered in Texas to have a license in Texas.

In the meantime my plates are expired as I can’t register my car .. but I have been counting on that if I ever get pulled over the cop will understand the situation.

However, it just occurred to me that in order for me to register to vote.,that I will need to have a Texas ID or driver’s license. Given this mail in ballot business, of course now I am worried.

I have sent an email to the Harris tax assessors office as they say on their site, haven’t got any response. Apparently it’s a circumstance that will not grant me an exception for an office visit

Anyone have any ideas?
