Anyone balanced their AC system? I have a two story house and the downstairs gets ice cold and the upstairs stays hot. Someone mentioned I should install dampers? Why would the house have these pre-installed?

So I’m a little confused. Hoping someone can offer some advice.

I have a 2500 sq ft house, two floors. It has a single AC unit for the entire house.

The issue is during the hot months, with the thermostat being downstairs, it cools the downstairs to say 72 but the upstairs is like 78+.

I bought some remote sensors for my thermostat so I can tell it to cool based off the upstairs temp.

However now, when my upstairs sensor hits 72, my downstairs is like 65 and freezing.

I mentioned this to a friend and he said I should check for dampers in the attic – I can’t see anything on the ducting so I have to assume I do not have any.

Is it an expensive project to get these installed and my AC balanced?

Why wouldnt the home builders include this in the AC plans. Seems really short sighted not to be able to control your air flow to multiple floors.

The only thing I can see is that the vents on the ceiling have tabs that I can pull closed, but I’ve been told that closing those or restricting the flow is harmful to your AC unit.

It’s really annoying because I have to either freeze downstairs, or sweat up stairs depending on which sensor I set my AC to.

Wife’s car got broken into at the Shell gas station on corner of 99 and i10 – in broad daylight today. Be careful!

My wife stopped to fill up for gas at the Shell on the corner of i10 and 99 (Katy).

It was broad daylight at 2pm. Busy gas station.

She was thirsty so went into get a drink. She was gone from her car all of 60 seconds.

They smashed her window, somehow managed to scratch her door paint on the outside and also the plastic trim on the inside has gouges.

Fortunately she had nothing of value in the car.

She took it to get fixed and was told by the dude that he’s fixed 8 car windows this week from around that area this week alone.

I don’t understand how they scratched up her paint and interior trim – but whatever, she’s not hurt and they didn’t steal anything of value which is the main thing.

Be careful people! Seems there’s lots of lowlife scum around right now.

Does anyone know where to buy St Augustine Plugs in Houston?

Hi guys,

Have a few patches of freeze damage in my lawn I want to repair.

I know I can order plugs online to deliver but I’d rather buy local, also because then the plugs don’t have the stress of going through the mail.

Anywhere local that has them? I assumed Lowes or home depot but they don’t have them at the store they only have delivery, I’m guessing they just have a contract with a sod farm.

There must be as local landscaping place that sells plugs.

Located on the west side, south of Katy if that matters.

Anyone tried the new carolina reaper pepper cheese puffs from HEB? Good Lord. They ain’t playing.

Spotted these last night after a few beers on the way home. I have a high tolerance for spice and couldn’t resist.

They are no joke. I powered through the whole bag with some more beer, was touch and go for a while.

Today, my asshole feels like it went 13 rounds with Mike Tyson.

I may ask my wife to insert some ice cubes.

10/10 would eat again.

Racoon living in my tree. Is he cool? Or do I call someone?

So I’m working on my yard and out of the corner of my eye I saw what I thought was a cat climbing up my large Texas Live Oak.

I thought what the f**k that dude’s moving slow for a cat. And he’s big.

Then he peered around the tree to say whatsup and it’s a motherfucking racoon. Like 3 times the size of a cat.

I thought I scared him, and he ran up there to hide – but as I’m looking up little dude has built a massive tree top mansion on the limbs. I see him chilling up there all laid out.

Now I’m a Houston transplant. Where I’m from, we don’t have racoons – I have no idea if this dude is a cool dude to have around my house or not?

I’m obviously not bothering him, and I’m not going to go near him but do you call anyone about racoons to relocate them? Do you just ignore them? Are they beneficial to have around?

I already have a super cool possum called Dave that lives in my back yard, I know hes a cool bro because he eats snakes and insects and stuff.

But Steve the racoon? I have no idea if he’s a cool dude. I really need some advice.

Thanks.

Can anyone help me ID these. Are they flying termites or flying carpenter ants or neither? Freaking out

Hi guys,

I noticed a bunch of bugs on my wall near my porch light. Upon closer inspection I saw them swarming in a wee hole in my brick veneer.

I took the attached photos and I think they are flying carpenter ants? But I’m not 100% sure.

I mean it sucks if they are, I’m about to spray demon WP on the walls of my property.

I just wanted someone to offer me some advice if they knew any better than me?

Many thanks.
