Read More“With Watson at the helm, it isn’t outside the realm of possibility that Houston could be right back in the playoff mix next season, especially if it hires the right head coach. Florio speculated that Watson floating the idea of a trade may have been his way of capturing the attention of the Texans front office and creating a situation in which he will be given input when it comes to choosing a new coach. While Watson is young and only has one playoff win to his credit, consulting him about the head coaching hire would make sense because of the fact that he’s the face of the franchise and will be around for years to come if he plays out his entire contract. Watson’s mere presence could make Houston the most attractive head coaching opening to some candidates, and a good relationship with the star quarterback would go a long way toward building a strong foundation for success. It is likely that most of the NFL’s teams will line up and offer a king’s ransom for Watson if they actually entertain trading him at some point, but it is difficult to envision that happening any time soon given how recently he signed a new deal.”
Make of it what you will.

Read More1) Deshaun Watson proving that he is an elite tier QB.
2) The offense showed that it didn’t rely on DeAndre Hopkins, despite what the national media said after the still controversial trade (still controversial to me, at least).
3) BOB was FINALLY fired.
4) David Johnson showing some great potential near the end of the season and showing the willingness to keep improving.
5) JJ Watt playing a full season at the highest level.
6) Rookies like Blacklock and Greenard showing flashes of potential (not very many though, but something to look forward to in the future).
7) Bradley Roby proving he can be a true #1 corner before the PED suspension.
8) Will Fuller stepping up as a #1 wide receiver before the PED suspension.
9) Great unexpected performances by little-known folks like Hansen and Adams.
10) Coutee getting out of the O’Brien doghouse and showing a ton of potential.
11) Crossen showing that he can be more than a full-time special teams player.
And finally:
12) That this season, arguably the weirdest in NFL history, is finally over for us.

Read MoreSo the Texans are out of the playoffs now, I just wanna do a quick survey on who would y’all like us to hire as our new HC. (Also with the intent to keep the sub active, as it’s been quiet as of late)
I did one of these a few months ago, but I expect that, given recent developments, a ton of people have likely changed their minds since.
It seems like the field has narrowed down to just a few candidates, those who have been rumored to be preferred for the job (Bieniemy and Schottenheimer) and those hot-name candidates who are widely expected to still be considered for the job (Brady and Saleh).
Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments and/or to state your HC preference if it’s not in the poll!

I know that we’ll only go up from here, but this shitty year AND the fact that the Texans are doing like crap on top of it isn’t making things any better.
