From the very beginning I was skeptical of the “Watson is unhappy because he was promised say on personnel decisions” Dude is 5 years into the league, has never gotten beyond the AFC title game and is 25 years old. Not even Brady (in NE) or Rodgers has had personnel sway. Furthermore, every sports show, from Cowherd to Florio parroted the narrative without a single source. It’s no secret the sports media is inherently against “old rich white billionaires” and will always take the side of the players. Reasons for this are complex, but much of it is due to their fear of losing out on player access. Which I find idiotic, considering 9 out of 10 player interviews are stale and beyond boring. Then there was the media sanctioned narrative that Watson was concerned about the “lack of diversity” amongst Texans coaching. Never mind the fact that Romeo was their interim coach and they eventually hired a black head coach. Nope. Not good enough. Just goes to show how cynical and manipulative Watson’s camp is willing to be. They know what the media responds to. And they exploited them for all they’re worth. My personal favorite media trick was appealing to the masses by repeatedly stating “public sentiment is almost entirely on Watson’s side, and a trade is therefore imminent” Uh, no. From the start I thought he was acting like a little spoiled brat. You just sign a franchise record deal a few months ago and now you’re calling out the org that has had your back your whole career? Even before the allegations, something did not smell right.

But I think it makes sense now. While I don’t know exactly what they were trying to do, it seems obvious at least one of Watson camp’s tactics was to make the media their mouthpiece and spread bullshit about the organization. Why? To immediately pit the fan base against management. Even now, look at the insane comments on Twitter or YouTube. Fans are CONVINCED 22+ women are coming out at the behest of management. This was all a Texans org plan, you see! Yeah. No. I will gladly wait “for all the facts to come out” but this is more than just smoke. We are seeing the embers of a much bigger fire. And those who are now calling Watson a victim of maniacal conspiracies will look like the Cosby defenders. And the media will slip away once more like the snakes they are–convincing their viewers that they were ALWAYS with the women victims and they ALWAYS knew Watson was a piece of s**t. It’s all just part of the wacky world of sports!
