Hey y'all! I am relatively new to Houston, moved here for a job and have been renting over the past year and now looking to buy a place in the city. I ahve seen some really nice homes in Eado or at just north of the Buffalo Bayou near the East River project (https://eastriverhtx.com/) . The properties are in the 77020 zip code and safety/crime stats and reports don't look appealing in that area as they portraying fifth ward numbers. Any locals know what that specific area is actually like? I see a lot of new homes/construction and potential but I worry about the safety in the area. I am a 24 year old female and would be living there alone or possibly getting a roommate. Also, any thoughts on the East River project? I can't tell if it's all talk or if they actually will be executing it. I would really appreciate any insight!
