A thought about this upcoming season’s gameplan
We can all agree losing Hopkins sucks, we’re not happy but I’m looking ahead to this upcoming season and wondering why BOB made these moves, I had a thought.
The OLine got better last year but Watson still ate a lot of sacks, half of that is his fault from his running around play style.
By having two pass catching RB’s (David and Duke) and having full speed at WR, I’m thinking this all to enhance Watson’s play style and prevent him from running around behind the line of scrimmage for 10 minutes by getting him more open receivers faster.
This still allows for big 60+ yard TD plays cuz any one of the speedsters is capable but also means more frequently open WR’s due to speed mismatches. Plus there is effectively always 4-5 WR’s on the field (3 WR + 1-2 RB’s great at pass catching).
TL;DR 4+ speed WR’s + 2 RB’s (that area bascially WR) = shorter time Watson runs around and gets sacked waiting for an open play
