Hey y’all, just wanted to pass along a couple of words from the mod team.

Welcome u/hanSoes to the mod staff! She’s been fantastic over on the Discord Server and a great addition to the team. Say hello!

The Dodgers series starts today, and is always a bit heated, so wanted to issue a couple of reminders:

1.) People from outside of this sub are going to come in and comment. There’s no issue with this, so long as they adhere to the sub and Reddit rules. If someone comments or posts with any sort of content that breaks those rules, DO NOT ENGAGE with them (you’re giving them exactly what they want), instead use the REPORT button and let the mod staff deal with it.

2.) This should go without saying, as it’s been a long-standing rule on this sub: Do not go into other team’s subreddits and troll. We have a good relationship with the Dodgers sub, and report users breaking rules back and forth. If you’re reported over there, we will ban you over here, and in all likelihood, the ban is permanent. Just don’t. They have their sub, we have ours, and that’s the way it is. Be a good community member.

3.) On the subject of doom posting- yes sometimes the Astros don’t play well, make mistakes, or just flat out lose games. This is the nature of baseball. Being a wet blanket (constant “we suck, pathetic, this team is bullshit” etc) not only ruins the community experience for you, it ruins it for everyone else. Being critical is fine and expected, but constant complaining and negativity is not. So don’t do that.

We know some of you have mentioned that the number of posts and people participating in the GDTs has declined, and that’s due in large part to the Discord server. Please by all means pop in and see if Discord is a way for you to enjoy the live game experience, it’s extremely active. But if Discord is not for you, that’s totally fine as well. Participate in anyway you see fit.

Okay I’m done rambling. Go Stros, and be excellent to each other.

Starting tomorrow, we’re in for a 3-game set against the New York Yankees. Yes, it will be contentious. Yes, feelings are going to be hot. Yes, the urge to trash talk will reach exponential levels.

So let’s take this opportunity to go over a couple of things:

1.) Under no circumstances is it okay to go to the Yankees sub and trash talk, troll, downvote, etc. Brigading is explicitly against Reddit’s TOS and will lead to further action against your account. Just don’t.

We have already reached out to the mods at NYY and have expressed the desire to work together and keep this series as civil as possible. If we receive modmail from them that you were reported for breaking a subrule, you will be banned here as well. This has been a long-standing rule in all baseball-related subs. 1 strike and you’re out, so don’t be that Redditor.

2.) DO NOT ENGAGE. Responding to trolls in our house only feeds them and gives them what they want. Downvote, report, and move along. If you report bad actors, the mods can see it much faster than by scanning the threads, meaning we can take action faster. And we will be reporting back to the NYY sub as well.

This does not mean report for anything and everything. Help us make this sub great.

3.) MLBstreams is gone. Yes, there are other ways to find streams. This ain’t the place to ask for them. Offering streaming links or asking for them will get your comment removed, and subject to further penalty. This stuff breaks TOS as well, so be smart.

4.) Be nice to each other. In games like this, emotions run hot. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. It’s May. The playoffs are not going to be determined this week, for either team.

5.) Remember- Yankees fans are just like you, but wearing different colored laundry. They’re baseball fans and people as well. Try to remember that.

Okay now that that business is out of the way- let’s have a little fun.
