Anyone who is in or around downtown: I want to invite you all to 800 Capitoil, in the Bank of America tower, first floor. Local bakery/bistro company Common Bond has opened a location in the B of A Tower. Now, this location is totally new and unlike any other location: rather than being a full fast-casual location, the downtown location also features a brasserie... so there is still the fast casual counter service outside in the lobby, but then there is a full restaurant with a full bar and a patio. It is upscale causal, open for lunch from 11 am until 4 pm Monday through Friday and for dinner from 4 pm until 9 pm Monday through Friday. Happy hour in the bar from 4 until 6. Great menu, great wine and cocktail list--it's also a very good company to support with your business.

Great location for a quick lunch during the week if you work in an office downtown around that area, or an after work drink, or dinner. We just fully opened and so we are trying to drum up some business. I had thought I was completely done with this industry but then I found this job and found my passion again: the company has been good to us employees and really care about guests and staff so I want them to be successful and if I can help with that in any way, then even better.

Reservations are generally recommended but walk-ins are welcome. We also have a small room that can hold private events that can seat up to I believe 30...for that though, you should definitely call and speak to Jaime or Matt.

So yeah...just thought I'd try to put the word out and try to bring in some business to a new spot downtown...that I just so happen to work for and have helped open. If you come in, please let them know you were referred by Eric...they'll know who you mean and it'll make me look good :-)

I don't just mean the eviction moratorium ending and the people that will cast out from that: I mean in general. Yes, all those people are going to screwed and end up on the street, in shelters, or couch surfing. Which is awful enough, but its hard to find anything now. The prices have gone up even though most of the places are the exact same place they were a year or 5 years ago. Old apartments and houses built in 1953 are seriously being rented for over $1000.

Private landlords are asking for three months rent as a DEPOSIT, on top of expecting the first month immediately too. And denying people for literally any reason, then lying about why. Or, just not even renting out units, leaving them empty or selling to corporate landlords or owner-occupiers.

What are people supposed to do?

We are currently having to deal with this again. when our lease ended at our old place September, we tried looking for a new place because we wanted more space. at the time our income was over $4000, and we had proof we had been paying on time and in full the entire time. And yet we were denied multiple times for petty reasons: stating I lied for saying I've never been evicted...even after being shown proof they were dismissed filings. Denied because I have a fricking misdemeanor.Denied for being in the service industry and for starting school soon.

We finally lucked up, we thought, when we found this house. But the landlord here and his shady business practices led to my account with all of our money being frozen while under investigation, then he starts trying to force us out, even after I moved hell and earth to get rent assistance, and the money released. He chose to refuse to accept any payment at all, file for eviction as revenge for me talking to an attorney, and refused to repair burst pipes after the storm in February. I had to pay $800 for a plumber to get us running water after not having it for three weeks, and hundreds on hotels and transportation to them and to friends' so we could shower and bathe the dog, bottles and jugs for drinking and flushing the toilet, and at least $200 to replace all our kitchenwares that were ruined by sitting in the sink unwashed for three weeks.

Even though I have proof hes in the wrong and this whole thing is in bad faith, we get denied. Ive been told by multiple people, including a couple of lawyers, that I have a good chance of winning the eviction case, but it doesn't matter if you win when they can use the filing against you.

What is a person supposed to do?
