Nitro-phos weed & feed for grass – ok to use through summer months?

Hi all,

I have a bermuda lawn and have been using the nitro-phos schedule for the past year or so with great success (Thanks Borat). My neighbors don’t really upkeep their lawn, so weeds are everywhere and they infiltrate my lawn from time to time with seeds. 1st world probs, i know.

Recently i had a bunch of vine type weeds sprout up and overtake a good portion of the lawn seemingly overnight. Could be due to the heat and no rain, but not sure.

My question is, rather than using the nitro-phos SuperTurf fertilizer in March/June/August, could i use the Weed & Feed fertilizer instead without damaging the soil or lawn over time? I’m worried about having the weed killer on there all the time, but not sure if my worries are real or just in my head.

Thanks for your help!

Grass help – Bermuda grass and lots of weeds

Hi all,

We had some construction being done earlier this year at our house and i neglected the backyard grass quite a bit. It’s half grass, half weeds at thsi point. We don’t have a lot of area – a 40×10′ area and a 40’x5′ area.

As you see in the images, it’s dead in spots, and lots of weeds.

It’s Bermuda grass… what should i do as it begins to get a little cooler in a few weeks? I know i can’t just throw top soil and seed down. I’m looking for easiest and least time consuming without going sod or hiring a landscaper. I’m ok with spending a few dollars as needed.

Thanks!

Need a great Lunch spot for special occasion

Hi all,

I am looking for a great lunch spot to celebrate a special occasion. Many great Houston restaurants recommended on here and in yelp don’t open until 4 or 5pm, which is too late for us (kid duties). Something that is open for lunch (12-5pm) would hit the spot.

Don’t worry about cost or part of town, as long as it’s within an hour of downtown, we can get there. We want something interesting, unique, great food, etc. And must be open for lunch (12-5pm).

What do you got? 🙂

Health insurance companies – which is better?

HI all,

I have some new medical insurance options for next year and wanted to get your thoughts on the companies themselves and coverage. I know pricing and the details are different for everyone, but i haven’t heard of some of these before:

  • Molina
  • AMBetter
  • Community Health
  • Oscar

I also have BCBS, and United Healthcare as options.

Disregarding pricing, which would you go with based on coverage for doctors, hospitals, etc in Houston?

Thanks!

Mail-in ballots – how to apply?

Hi all,

Please keep politics out of this post.

Interested in signing up for mail-in voting. I pulled the app from https://www.harrisvotes.com/Docs/VotingInfo/Ballot%20By%20Mail%20Application%20-%20English.pdf and i don’t meet the criteria (65+ years old, disability, absent from county, in jail).

Is there another way to apply or am i stuck with going to a polling place?

Thanks!

Best place to compare medical insurance rates?

Hi my fine Houston people,

Wife might be losing her job and she is 8 months preggo. Great timing… If i add her and the child (our first child) to my insurance, it’s unbelievably expensive ($1200/month). It’s probably cheaper for me to stay on my plan and have her and maybe the child go onto a separate plan (or add child to mine, and have my wife on her own plan). Is there a good website i can go to and browse/compare medical insurance rates and get an idea of costs?

I know of health Sherpa, but any other’s specifically for houston/texas?

Thank you!
