Have any of you had success protesting your property taxes this year? We used a company to appeal and they got our market value lowered but not the appraisal value…
Maybe I’m just dumb, but the person we used for the protest was trying to tell us we saved something like $25,000 based on the change in market value. But I pay my taxes based on the appraisal value, so I don’t really see how this protest was helpful to me in any way, at least for this year. Can someone please ELI5 whatever it is I’m missing here? Is this protest agency ripping me off, or is everyone not getting their appraisal values lowered?
