Council approved rezoning 10.89 acres of land, legally described as a tract of land, from single-family residential to light industrial, according to the agenda packet.

Commissioner Walker will host two separate state of the prescient events. This will allow for the discussion of the growth and needs in the precinct.

The rezoning would have changed approximately 1.991 acres of land from single-family residential to commercial, according to the agenda packet.

Democratic candidate Melissa McDonough is challenging Republican incumbent U.S. Rep. Wesley P. Hunt, who first won the seat in 2023.

The city’s approved FY 2024-25 budget projects $130.9 million in revenues and $127.3 million in expenditures, resulting in a $3.6 million surplus, according to the agenda packet.

The $1.5 million approved capital improvement project will include roadway widening along North Loop 336, installation of a new traffic signal and removal of some of the existing traffic signals, according to the agenda packet.

The potential ordinance would allow the city to collect hotel occupancy tax from short-term rental properties, like those listed on AirBnb or VRBO, Economic Development Director Rachel Steele said during the meeting.

The city’s approved FY 2024-25 budget projects $8.26 million in revenues and $8.26 million in expenditures, resulting in a balanced budget, according to the Sept. 10 agenda packet.
