Conroe City Council named Khanh Ariel Gibbs as the city’s new chief financial officer during its April 1 special meeting.

At its March 27 meeting, Conroe City Council approved $110,000 for Visit Conroe to fund marketing and assistance for four events to attract people to the city.

Duties in the new program range from power-washing sidewalks and streets to awning repairs and curb painting, Deputy City Administrator Nancy Mikeska said during the meeting. 

Magnolia Soap & Bath hosts parties where guests can make bath bombs, soap and candles, owner Christina Nicklas said.

Conroe will now seek development agreements for digital billboard conversions based on the location of the billboard’s placement. 

The shop offers a topping bar of over 30 toppings and 15 frozen yogurt flavors, including vanilla, chocolate and espresso along with two dairy-free options and seasonal flavors like cheesecake and snickerdoodle.

During a special-called meeting March 24, Magnolia City Council voted to terminate Interim City Administrator Markus Benoit effective March 28, and approved a contract with Texas First Group to find a new interim city administrator.

North Sycamore Street will be converted to a one-way street and reconstructed to allow for added pavement width and the addition of designated parking on the west side of the roadway, Rogers said.
