Three candidates are running to be the next Bellaire mayor.

Proposition A funds major expansions within the Harris Health System over the next 10 years.

Bellaire voters will have to cast their votes again on Dec. 9.

Since the U.S. Treasury first allocated the funding to the county in 2021, at least $643 million has been committed to various projects and programs.

Approving the funding from the Texas General Land Office will allow the Harris County Flood Control District to complete projects associated with the HCFCD’s 2018 bond program.

Commissioners approved transferring the unclaimed money to the county’s general fund.

The Nov. 3 ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the opening of the repurposed correctional facility formerly known as the Burnett-Bayland Rehabilitation Center.

For the next three years, the five organizations that were awarded grant funding will be tasked with improving the quality of early education in targeted neighborhoods.

With Thanksgiving happening Nov. 24, several organizations are hosting food and supply drive events in the coming weeks.

During the first week of early voting that began on Oct. 23, the majority of voters appeared in person.
