The money, which will come through in employees’ December paychecks, is normally a 1% lump sum payment built into the district’s compensation plan but is being raised to 2% for this year.

The city will spend 6.2% more than last year on the Katy Fire Department and Katy Police Department, 40% more on funding for drainage and street projects, and 19% more for park improvements.

The district was allocated $102.4 million in ESSER funding—not including the funds that will go toward the state’s hold-harmless policy.

According to a presentation given to the City Council at the Oct. 19 meeting, the improvements will address the street ponding and structural flooding issues.

The site, located at the southeast corner of Peek Road and Elyson Falls Drive between FM 529 and Beckendorff Road will be home to a kindergarten through 12th-grade campus.
