Project leaders say Zachry Holdings is obstructing the export terminal’s progress.

Zachry still has about 140 workers on the Golden Pass site to help its transition away from the project.

San Antonio-based firm Puerto Verde Holdings partnered with Maverick County on the project.

Zachry Holdings is beginning to unwind itself from the Golden Pass LNG project and has laid off workers in Jefferson, Harris and Orange counties.

Zachry Holdings, a construction and engineering firm, filed for bankruptcy protection this week and is looking to exit the Golden Pass LNG project.

Zachry Holdings said the filing is mainly a result of an impasse between the company and the joint venture group behind a major LNG project.
