Friendswood ISD’s 2020 construction bond projects are wrapping up and nearing completion for the 2024-25 school year.

Safe and supportive school teams will serve at each campus in Friendswood ISD for the 2024-25 school year after they received approval from the board of trustees on Aug. 12.

Student safety in terms of technology is part of key additions in Alvin ISD’s newest handbook, which was approved by the board of trustees on Aug. 13 for the upcoming 2024-25 school year.

Students in Friendswood ISD can participate in a free and reduced-price meal program through the district if they are unable to afford the full price of meals, according to an Aug. 9 news release from the district.

Starbucks on Shadow Creek Parkway has reopened after temporarily closing in late June for renovations, an employee that works for the business said.

New schools Barbara Bennett Elementary and Iowa Colony Junior High as well as Alvin Elementary’s new replacement campus are set to open as of Aug. 7—nearly a week prior to the start of Alvin ISD’s new school year, which starts Aug. 12.

Detroit-style pizza shop Via 313 Pizzeria had a soft opening in early August, and will have a grand opening Aug. 9, an employee that works for the business said.
