Seven new personnel positions are now open at Pearland ISD after the board of trustees approved the positions at its Aug. 20 meeting.

Painted Tree Boutiques will be opening by the end of October on Bay Area Boulevard, an employee that works for the business said.

Donut Distillery celebrated its one year anniversary from Aug. 12 through 18, according to a social media post from the business.

Despite a lower tax rate, Pearland ISD residents could see an increase in their tax bills this upcoming year.

Friendswood ISD will have four competitive races, with each seat in the Nov. 5 election having a challenger to the incumbents.

McDonald’s is set to open in late August on Marina Bay Drive in League City, an employee that works for the business said.

Birrieria El Compadre is now open as of early August, according to a social media post from the business. 

Seven new personnel positions will be considered by the board of trustees at Pearland ISD’s Aug. 20 board meeting due to growth in various parts of the district.

Passage rates for the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness in Alvin ISD slightly declined in reading and math in grades 3-8 compared to last year, according to results released by the Texas Education Agency in June.

While school districts in the Pearland-Friendswood area aren’t seeing challenges with teacher shortages specifically, officials have noted the increased difficulty of finding qualified teachers, as well as maintaining teachers.
