Lone Star College’s board of trustees authorized the college’s chancellor to negotiate contracts for multiple upcoming campus projects, which have yet to break ground, during its Dec. 14 meeting.

Lone Star College has been awarded about $1.3 million in employee training grants by the Texas Workforce Commission, according to a Dec. 13 news release from Gov. Greg Abbott’s office.

The interior construction for Ostioneria Michoacán Seafood Restaurant, Teloloapan grocery store and multiple laundromat tenants is slated to be finished in early February.

Approved by voters in 2014 as part of the college system’s $485 million bond, the 31,000-square-foot center will provide new, larger facilities for the college’s visual and performing arts departments.
