Some in the international oil and gas industry wondered: “Why would we go to Houston for an event like this?”

The fully in-person 23rd World Petroleum Congress scheduled to run Dec. 5-9 at the George R. Brown Convention Center will have no online or so-called hybrid elements.

“It’s almost like you put yourself through this torture,” one CEO and co-founder said.

The Woodlands, Texas-based company stands to receive more than $400 million before taxes if the New York State Supreme Court upholds the arbitration panel’s decision.

LyondellBasell reduced the refinery’s book value by half in the third quarter of 2020 amid the industry downturn.

The petrochemical company’s third-quarter earnings, while much higher than 2020 levels, were lower than analysts expected.
